With the Wega Team 1000 Radiowe have set ourselves a goal

The radio should work normally again, the dial lighting should be sufficiently bright and have Bluetooth. In addition, we planned a hands-free facility so that you can make phone calls in the home office without any problems.

So, let's start with the construction work!

Dial illuminationfirst test run

Here you can get your first impressions of the reconstruction “Wega Radio”. We rewired the lighting and equipped it with a different light source. We treated the scale background with mirror film so that the light is better distributed.

Professional wood processing

We also had to devote ourselves to the wooden cabinet. First, we sanded it with 400 grade paper. With a toothbrush and damp cotton wool, we cleaned the grooves. Then we applied furniture wax from Hermann Sachse. With Schleierfrei, by Hermann Sachse, we did the finish.

Repairof the cracked dial

Fortunately, we were able to repair this with a Pattex glass adhesive. Instead of the given 60 seconds, we pressed the parts together a little longer as a precaution. For this, we are happy to use a watch with a seconds display.

Check USB powerbefore we connect the transmitter

We bought this USB measuring device from Conrad Electronic. The system voltage of the radio is 7.5 volts. This was limited to 5.1 volts. Before we connect the Bluetooth FM transmitter, however, we first wanted to see whether everything was OK. Therefore, we connected the measuring device, voltage checked, then the transmitter behind it in series. In this way, you can also see how much current the device is drawing. The measuring device will serve us well in many other projects. For example, with Arabella music cabinet.

Sound transmissionvia bluetooth

We transmitted the received sound via Bluetooth over the displayed frequency.

The FM transmitter is now fully installed. All electronics can be found in the battery box. The cable can be pulled out after opening the box so that the transmitter can be placed on the table. This facility turns the old WEGA team radio into the ultimate cool hands-free system.

Here now the completely converted WEGA Team 1000 with an FM transmitter attached to the side.
