Philips Jupiter RadioUpcycling Project

Here we have an empty housing from a Philips Jupiter 404 tube radio, enhanced with a karaoke amplifier HVA-200 and modern Monacor broadband loudspeakers.

This combination is absolutely unique, and it is again a great upcycling project!

We bought the case for 5 euros, and that's what it looked like at first... The karaoke amplifier is a discarded model.

Work steps

We built a mount for the karaoke amplifier in the Philips case from waste wood and pear wood veneer.

We have repaired all veneer defects and prepared the case with shellac. The pear veneer is attached to the side and the original veneer is still on top.

Finally, new speakers were added because the old ones could not transport the modern bass.

Technical detailsand dimensions

The sound is easily enough for a 100 square meter room!

We have 6 connections: DVD, CD, Tape, Karaoke and 2 x microphone
