Farmer's cabinetgreat project

At the end it should definitely be a smart kitchen cabinet with a charging station, lighting, and a few other gimmicks.

Cabinets

Light elementscombined with vintage

However, the old glaze is still in the way! As you can see in the picture, we have already moved some parts of it away.

The beautifully grained woodbecomes visible

In fact, you can see very well in this picture why you shouldn't overdo it with wood protection, varnish or glaze! In fact, you can now see the wood under the brown layer.

The first grinding workcan begin

Here the wood putty is visible after the first sanding.

After starting workwe got a new idea

On the one hand, we just wanted to clean the cabinet and then retrofit it smartly. On the other hand, we then got the idea that there was a lot more potential in the closet!

The paint has to be removedTreatment of the wood

After sanding, the wood was then treated with semi-oil.

You can seethe beautiful result here

The first coat of semi-oil is done.

Great effectas we think

We left some old paint on the floor, which gave us a great effect. In the meantime, you can now see how unpredictable old wood is. Every square millimeter reacts differently to the oil.

Before and afterthe difference is visible

Here you can see the solid oak before and after the first layer of our treatment.

Let there be lightthe first test

The cabinet lighting below convinces us! It is also equipped with a motion detector.

Technical details

Who would have thought over 100 years ago that a farmer's cupboard would need its own junction box?

In short, it is now equipped with:

• Cabinet lighting, with motion detector
• 6-way high power charging station
• Smart LED strip in the cabinet (with Homematic control)
• Milight GU10 spots, which are controlled via ioBroker

Optical redesignis taking shape

The great difference is clearly visible!

We are enthusiastic about the result!

A great closet with lots of gimmicks!
